Joanna Brandt is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)who utilizes evidence-based interventions to support her clients experiencing a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, and effects of recent and historical trauma. Depending on the presenting concern of her clients, Ms. Brandt applies approaches of Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). With evidence-based modification, Ms. Brandt applies these therapies to her work with couples and families.
Ms. Brandt ease of connection with her adult and emerging adult clients foster a better understanding where their behaviors come from, and how to apply practical skills to manage the undesirable behaviors. Her approach helps her clients increase their ability to self-empower, effectively communicate their needs, understand themselves, and deepen their bonds with others.
Ms. Brandt received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication from Ohio University and her Masters’ Degree (MA) in Social Work from Simmons College in Boston, MA. In addition to her clinical work, she has experience in clinical training, clinical management, and crisis intervention. Before joining CWW, Ms. Brandt provided clinical services in private practice, worked with in non-profit organizations with chronic mental illness, and in substance use treatment programs supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health challenges. Ms. Brandt also held positions in leadership and consultation in previously served agencies including the Trauma-Informed and the Harm Reduction Task Forces where she was tasked to review and create best practice/informed policies for clients and trainings to other clinical professionals.
Ms. Brandt’s goals are for her clients to reach theirs. With empathy and expertise, she meets her clients where they are in their journey.
