Sara C. Warren is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) who specializes in supporting women navigating difficult and challenging points in the adult lifespan. Ms. Warren strives to be with her clients without judgment and with acceptance of how they feel. In her work with grieving clients, she believes that not all grief is created equal and traumatic grief can affect every part of an individual life and health. Ms. Warren’s work with adult women is intentional in creating a space of safety for clients to bear their unedited stories, including stories of traumatic loss. She finds fulfilment in witnessing post-traumatic growth and observes that her clients can come from turning toward grief, developing a practice of self-compassion and coping, and living in both grief and love.
Within a framework based in the art of full presence, a mindful and evidenced-based model to care for the traumatically bereaved, she employs the ATTEND model. Additional therapeutic approaches Ms. Warren utilizes include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness training.
Ms. Warren earned her Bachelor of Arts (BA) from The Ohio State University and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Arizona State University in Tempe. Her graduate work included program emphasis on planning, administration, community, and organizational change. Ms. Warren’s clinical and professional experience includes a range of environments including social service and non-profit agencies, hospitals, and higher education. She has worked with underserved, vulnerable, and medically complex clients. Included in her experiences is over five years of counseling and other support services to women and families on the Women & Infant Unit at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Ms. Warren is a certified Peer Support Resource for First Candle, a non-profit organization that provides resources and support to those who have experienced a sudden unexpected infant death or stillbirth. Additionally, she holds specialized training and certification as a Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider.
